Home School Partnership and Home Learning
We acknowledge and understand the role of parents and carers as a child’s first educators.
We recognise the crucial importance of a well developed, informed and active partnership between school and home and will work to establish and enhance successful home-school relationships.
From Reception onwards children are encouraged to take their reading books home regularly to share with parents and carers and to promote children’s enjoyment of books and reading.
All children are provided with a Carlisle School Reading Diary as part of the school reading scheme at the beginning of the school year. Class teachers help the children keep their diaries up to date and parents/carers are encouraged to work together with their children on the books children take home. The home-school reading scheme is systematic and continuous from the early weeks of reception to the end of Year 2 and forms an important part of the reading development support for all children.
