Carlisle Infant School

School Council

Our School Council is chosen at the beginning of Year 2. The children are asked to prepare a presentation including why they think they would be a good School Councillor and what they would do to make our school an even better place.

The children who are chosen meet regularly with Mrs Hood (School Council Coordinator) and also come to a special meeting with the School’s governors. The children are given special responsibilities including helping out at fund raising events and the School Fayre, consulting with children on important decisions such as deciding the theme for our Focus Week and naming the school chickens. The children are also given a sum of money and have to decide in consultation with all the children what they should spend it on. Last year they chose a lovely new friendship bench for the playground.
